  • Warm thoughts for the cold nights...

    Hello Friends,

    I hope you are doing well. I am tired... very, very tired. I feel like I have been going for weeks. Tonight will be an early night!

    Gene is doing well. He is moving ever so slow, but he is moving. The doctor has physical therapy coming to the house for two weeks. I think we have a long road ahead of us yet.

    The Carolina's have been having a few days of wonderful warm weather. It has truly been an Indian summer here. They say it will cool down again in the next few days, but for me this weather cannot be beat! I remember growing up in the Chicago area and we often had snow for Thanksgiving which was always fun. I remember one year we were taking our camper (it was just a pump tent camper and was so small that only a card table fit in between the beds) to some nearby woods to camp for the long weekend, imagine our chill with snow and blowing wind. It was so cold the water in the pump in the woods froze. It was so cold that I can promise we only went potty in the outhouse when absolutely necessary! It was an adventure sleeping in our long johns and coats inside our sleeping bags. Needless to say we only went for one night in that extreme cold! While it might of been cold, it does make for some mighty warm memories! I love thinking back on these fun times.

    I love you friends, I promise I will be around to check on everyone as the days allow. My schedule is really mixed up right now. Currently its 8:42pm and I hear my bed calling loudly. I have had a migraine, and it always washes me out in big ways. Add to that and the times I am up to help Gene at night and you have one tired puppy!

    Good night my friends, sweet dream, ~Candy

    See this second shot, it is so close and in line with the TV I am wondering if the man will ever return to our bed! All this for the comfort of the king! I am just hoping that he can be comfortable and that his recovery is swift!

    Thank you for all the prayers and encouragement. We have a bit of a road ahead for us, but I can promise that we felt the support of so many. We are grateful to God for His protective hand on Gene during surgery. Its always scary when they do anything to the spine. I am just looking forward to having my big strong hubby up and about soon! God is good!!!

  • Surgery

    I am sitting in the hospital with my hubby. Surgery will be in about an hour, please lift Gene up in prayer today. We are all a bit anxious about the outcome. We are trying to rest in the knowledge that God has his hand on Gene, He knows our needs better than we do ourselves. I promise to check in when I can. Thank you friends for the encouragement and prayers. -Candy

    edit 5:30pm The surgery is over the MD feels things went well, now the road to recovery begins. Thanks for the thoughts, prayers and encouragement. I love you friends! - Candy

  •  Psalm 121

    A song of ascents.

    049

     1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—
           where does my help come from?

     2 My help comes from the LORD,
           the Maker of heaven and earth.

     3 He will not let your foot slip—
           he who watches over you will not slumber;

     4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
           will neither slumber nor sleep.

    044

     5 The LORD watches over you—
           the LORD is your shade at your right hand;

     6 the sun will not harm you by day,
           nor the moon by night.

     7 The LORD will keep you from all harm—
           he will watch over your life;

     8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going
           both now and forevermore
    .

About Me

  • Hi Friends, As you can guess from my name I am the wife of a full time firefighter, who is also the love of my life. I am a Christian. I love the Lord. I have been a critical care nurse/Paramedic for 21 years now, HOWEVER, I have not been able to work for the last 9 years. I have been battling a disease called Lupus. It has really raved my body, but I have a Mighty God and a wonderfully supportive family.
