  •  Psalm 121

    A song of ascents.

    049

     1 I lift up my eyes to the hills—
           where does my help come from?

     2 My help comes from the LORD,
           the Maker of heaven and earth.

     3 He will not let your foot slip—
           he who watches over you will not slumber;

     4 indeed, he who watches over Israel
           will neither slumber nor sleep.

    044

     5 The LORD watches over you—
           the LORD is your shade at your right hand;

     6 the sun will not harm you by day,
           nor the moon by night.

     7 The LORD will keep you from all harm—
           he will watch over your life;

     8 the LORD will watch over your coming and going
           both now and forevermore
    .

  • Surgery, Prayers needed.

    Hello Friends,

    Sorry it seems like I have been missing, its been a little crazy around here.

    My dear hubby is going to require surgery for his back. Gene has been out of work for about 7 weeks due to back problems. It started when he stood up from the table. It only got worse. We took him to the ER, they did a scan and scheduled an appointment with a neurosurgeon. He took a conservative route first. He tried medication, a spine injection and still the pain and weakness in his leg has increased. We returned today to the neurosurgeon and he scheduled surgery for next Thursday (Nov 12th).

    I would appreciate prayers for healing. We are trusting God for complete healing and strength. I know we have some long days ahead, but we are trusting. Thank you for adding Gene to your prayer list. God knows our needs, and He will make a way!

    I love you friends, I will be around to check on everyone very soon.

  • My trip...

    Hello Friends!  It feels so wonderful to be back home. I love getting away and enjoying the beauty of the mountains, but it makes home feel mighty sweet when I return!

    I got to spend a few days in the Lake Lure/Chimney Rock NC area. The leaves and colors were wonderful. We had sunshine on our first day there. The cabin we enjoyed had a huge front deck that was perfect for morning coffee and then we worked on our bible study together. It was very cool that our study is in Psalms and David was speaking of the mountains and strength! Very cool to study this while surrounded by the beauty of these mountains. Here are some photos of our home away from home...

    We took advantage of the nice weather and went into Chimney Rock. Its known for its cute shops and we stopped for lunch and had a great view of Chimney Rock. In this photo you will see two of my very dear friends. I love having sisters!!! We had a great view...

    The town is very cute and it seems to have a bear theme throughout. Each store had diffrent bears to welcome the shoppers...

    We did have rain on our second day, and it stayed around all day long. We did go to town, we bought some apple cider that was mighty yummy once we returned. Hot cider is the bomb after getting chilled to the bone! While it was chilly and wet outside we had lots of laughs and fun to warm our hearts!

    I know that there are older mountains, and more rugged mountains, but I think that the beauty of these mountains are hard to beat!

    I have been in the mountains for every season, but I think that fall would have to be my very favorite. I look forward to retuning to this spot again someday, its really a lovely place to visit and to share in the beauty of the N.C. mountains!

    So this is what I have been doing, what have you been up to while I was away?

  • Heads and hearts...

    Having a 13 year old boy keeps things around here interesting! Today Cody called from football practice, he got his bell rung big time. The coach actually called since my boy had some vision changes and nausea. Hitting ones head can be a big issue during football. I am just glad that he seems to be doing well. The team has great helmets with air cushion in them to protect the heads of the growing boys! Today I am happy they take safety so serious!

    Cody also said that his science teacher told him that "this is not Sunday School" when he answered her question as to how  was this earth made? Of course Cody raised his hand and said that "God created the heavens and the earth", she might not like his answer but it makes me proud!

    As for my big boy, some have asked how he is doing and what the doctors have done for his back. Gene is doing ok, they did inject his back and the two nerves leading from the injured area. He has improved some but not to the extent we hoped for! He might be back at the neurosurgeon sooner then hoped.

    We are having very cool weather here, we actually had frost this morning. It makes me think that the farmers almanac might be right about this being one of the coldest in years! When the woolly worms are solid black it makes all the oldies take note! Nature seems to know more than we give her credit for. God is seem best in nature and she knows who to get her info from!  On Sunday I have plans to head to the mountains with some friends, its a few days for the girls to enjoy Gods beauty in a lovely log cabin! Hot apple cider will be perfect for a cool night on the porch!

    I hope that things are good in your corner of the world. Just know that I love you friends!!!

About Me

  • Hi Friends, As you can guess from my name I am the wife of a full time firefighter, who is also the love of my life. I am a Christian. I love the Lord. I have been a critical care nurse/Paramedic for 21 years now, HOWEVER, I have not been able to work for the last 9 years. I have been battling a disease called Lupus. It has really raved my body, but I have a Mighty God and a wonderfully supportive family.
